Welcome to Cheat Central, where our code ninjas provide you the best verified TurboGrafx-16 cheat codes and techniques to make your Turbo time as pain free as possible. 

As our ninjas play through more games, and are able to verify more cheat codes, they'll add more over time. 

Here are the cheats they've verified so for, listed by game, in alphabetical order:

Fantasy Zone

 

 STAGE INVINCIBILITY 

To enable invincibility on the stage you're on, plus your ship kills non-boss enemies on contact, pause the game and enter the following code:

press II, press I, press Up three times, press Down four times, press Right five times, and then press Left six times

If done correctly you'll hear a blip sound and your ship will be invincible for the stage you are on. Note that you'll have to reenter the code when the next stage starts, AND bosses don't seem to take damage from contact with your ship. You'll still need to shoot them, but you can get up close and personal and unload both your twin shot and bombs using the turbo function for utter destruction.

Galaga '90

 

EARLY RED CAPSULE / TRIPLE SHIP

To get the legendary Triple Ship, hold Up on the directional pad when you press Run to start the game. You will notice the capsule above your ship on the select screen is now red instead of blue. Now shoot all targets in the first stage to get a Red Capsule which transforms your fighter into the Triple Ship! Happy hunting.

SECRET BONUS

To get an easy 10,000 point (or more) bonus during the Galactic Dancin' rounds, simply sit there and don't kill a single enemy. Once the stage (show) has finished you get 0 regular points but then you get a huge special bonus. Easy peasy. 

 

Keith Courage in Alpha Zones

 

EASY LAST BOSS CHEESE 

While not a cheat per se, this is definitely a useful exploit to make the end boss of Keith Courage a push over.

When you reach the end of the last level, and you see the area leading to the end boss, jump across the gap to the other side, then fall diagonally into the chamber towards the right. You will land right before the end boss and it will be frozen.

Legendary Axe, The

 

INCREASE YOUR CONTINUES 

To get more continues, wait until you die and are going to the continue screen for the first time, then hold I (not Turbo) plus Select and keep pressing Left on the control pad as fast as possible. 

You should be able to gain more than 20 continues. This seems to only work the first time you do it (at least that's what I've found so far) so press that Left button like crazy and get as many as you can.

Note: other cheat sites will say to use Turbo on the I button but that is incorrect. Just hold the I button without turbo enabled. 

  

Side Arms

 

BLACK & WHITE MODE 

Now, I can't tell you why you would want to use this cheat, but if you hold Up on the D-pad, while holding Buttons I and II and press Run, the game will display in black and white.

Note: there is another cheat that enables "slow motion" mode, but in all honesty its just like the system is moving super chuggy and is completely useless. I don't recommend looking it up or trying it.
